Wethey Originals thus far

Chris | 9:23 pm | Best Blogger Tips

This Sunflower lives on Matt's wall.

This festive tree lives at Maddy and Jasper's.

This one of a kind kitchen utensil set lives with the one of a kind Jackie Opie.

This centaur watches over the Spaghetti Junction lounge.

This is my completion of a half finished painting I found at the Eco Shop. It lives in Oliver's flat. It overlooks the driveway and thoroughly disturbs the neighbours - so much so that they requested it be removed from its vantage point. It defied their orders and still lies there!
It also proudly featured in a play, which I have already blogged about.

This one was commissioned by Regan Stokes and lives in his room. It is an enigma amongst my work: it features a total of zero faces on it.
It is my proudest painting moment thus far.

These tomatoes are living in my room presently. They lie on the floor and will be inevitably squashed.

This uncanny depiction of the mask was commenced (and concluded) mere days ago.

My tribute to the Apple Computers logo. It is an apple with a face.

Sharply dressed carrot.

This is Cuppa Joe and he is hot off the press.

programming is my art

Anonymous | 6:32 pm | Best Blogger Tips
One thing I am really good in is programming.
Painting isn't really the art I have special skills in. So I tried to combine these both.

I wrote a program that reads an image and convert it brightness into characters. That is the result so far:

the card i recently posted

when you zoom in, you see this picture only contains characters
There are still much more possibilities out there how I can make art with programs. I'm looking forward to create a application that paints a image with random stuff (e.g. look at a media player when you listen to a song -> visualizer).

painting like a child

I haven't had much time recently, because I have a lot of work to do. Today, I figured out, that I have free Internet in my hotel I'm staying at (what the hell did I do the last 3 days without it?). Now I have the possibilities to start something new. Well at least the ambition is there.
Does anyone have ideas for a short time project that is possible to do with a far far distance?
What about a drawing session? Each person that is involed is allowed to draw for half an hour till he send it to the next person. It's going in a circle till the picture is finished.

Here a recent picture I drew when I was a bit bored.

My painting is famous

Chris | 11:26 pm | Best Blogger Tips

This is a painting of mine featuring as a prop in a play at Uni today.
Unfortunately I could not attend this play so have no idea of the context of this photo. Perhaps someone who attended could fill us in?

My guess: A female doctor feebly attempts to console her male collegue. He has soiled his coat yet again. His uncontrollable bowel movements have pushed him into a slippery slope of depression. A painter enters the room with an easel and my painting. Suddenly the doctor is filled with awe as majestic cascades of colour penetrate his entire being. The marvellous painting has completely restored his faith in not only himself; but the whole of humanity.

I found this unfinished painting at the Eco-Shop on Blenheim Road (a sadly much more expensive incarnation of the brilliant Supershed: a haven of cheap tatty artwork and rusty HIV-laden kitchen utensils.

The painting lacked faces. I could see the potential in this painting and wondered why it was unfinished. Perhaps the artist died before they got a chance to finish it? Maybe they were a failed artist who lost motivation, gave up art altogether, and moved onto a new hobby: perhaps golf, or sipping soy caramel lattes?

Anyway, I saw this potential masterpiece while browsing the store with Matt and Regan for a sheet to cover Regan's flat's carpet so we didn't get paint on the carpet. We ended leaving with a large reddish curtain which does the job with both ample fashion and function. I hear it may well end up as a thick blanket for one of Regan's flatmates during the brisk winter months.

The man possesses rabbit ears.
The female has an unfortunate facial structure.
