how to persuade a ronan!

regan | 6:14 pm | | Best Blogger Tips
Ronan Broad, after reading the below post titled "yoghurt, games and villains", toodled off down to our local supermarket and bought himself some Bliss yoghurt for $3.69. The last tub of clearance Bliss by the sound of it too. One could say that Ronan is yoggin' good.

Earlier this afternoon Ronan was trying to persuade me to go to his flat and eat yog with him while he cooked dinner. However, I always go to his flat and he rarely comes here. I feel that he is holding a 60/40 split of the power in our relationship and I would like this to change. I am all about the equality.

So, in light of this, I tried to persuade Ronan to come here and bring his yog for a yog party. When trying to persuade a Ronan, you must remember three key things:

- Ronans are sneaky. Therefore you must be even more sneaky.
- Ronans love to purchase clothing online. Therefore, an effective method may be to tell them that they will receive a clothing voucher if they comply.
- Ronans do Masters in Biology. This means that they may have a particularly strange and compulsive relationship with yoghurt, since it is reliant on bacteria for its existence. (more on this later).

Here lie my failed attempts at persuading Ronan. R.I.P.

note: the time things are wrong since this was from earlier this afternoon!

Whilst perusing the internet the other day I happened to stumble upon a picture of my good friend Ronan. I found the image very humourous and searched for more. I found heaps!!

Many thanks to the noble men and women who made BIOLOGY MAN who he is today!!

yoghurt, games and villains

regan | 3:58 am | | | Best Blogger Tips
Earlier this year I converted Scott to Bliss yoghurt. It is thick and creamy and organic and and most importantly delicious. The only problem is that it costs a lot at the supermarket; it is normally $7.89 per 1kg which is out of our price range.

Occasionally however it is on sale.
Once it was $4.99. I was bold last week and got some one for $6.89 (ouch). In the 1kg variety there are three flavours. Here is a quick analysis of their names:

- Mango Passion has the most boring name of the three as it doesn't include a joke or threat. Mangos are nice though. There is a Phoenix Foundation song called "Orange and Mango" and it is pleasing.

- Berry Happy is pretty humourous, because "berry" and "very" rhyme so the implication is that you will be very happy when you eat this yoghurt. Unfortunately it's not a very well thought out name because presumably the yoghurt would not be able to make you happy in extremely unhappy circumstances (for example if you received a postcard from your long lost cat Snuffles which explained his hatred for your feeding regime and why he wilfully submitted to the Mrs. Harre's brilliant abduction scheme last week).

Chocolate Silence is a berry severe name...I'm a little intimidated by it. Perhaps if you eat the Chocolate Silence your mouth will be forever shut and you will be forced to live via brief and trivial  facebook conversations for the rest of your life (what a terrible fate that would be). I once tried Chocolate Silence at Nick's house but it was weird and not very nice. Considering I am a self-confessed chocoholic that is a significant and empirical judgement. Luckily Mango Passion and Berry Happy are both delishimo.

Anyway, back to the topic of hand (Scott's yoghurt addiction). Scott turned 21 on Sunday so we went to a nice brunch at his family's house which included Berry Happy yoghurt at Scott's request. The next day (which was yesterday), I was out and missed a call from Scott. Then I received a text from him reading "Bliss yoghurt heaven". When I got home Scott rushed up to me and said he had something to show me. He took me to the fridge and I was shocked.

Scott Allan WHAT HAVE YOU DONE

Scott and Damien had bought five 1kg tubs between them
(one is the tub I got last week)

But at what cost? $3.69 each on clearance, that's what. Remarkable! But when will they expire? Watch the following educational video to find out!!

Scott was nice enough to get an extra one for me. So now the yoghurt race is on!

I will endeavour to document our struggle over the course of the week to eat 1.5 - 2kg of yoghurt each. That's 285g per day which is roughly two regular yoghurt pottles. Doesn't seem too bad. But will we be put off deliciously thick yoghurt forever? Will our western privilege finally catch up to us? Who knows, I have plans for my extra pottle anyway.

We also made an effort to document Woodham's gaming face tonight. I recently gave him my Team Fortress 2 backup files and he has been loving it ever since (to a worrying degree; he likes to shout "YOU'RE TERRIBLE!" whenever he kills someone). Woodham and Brad played a lot of TF2 earlier tonight (Brad later described the experience as being "in a trance"). It was great to watch.

While Brad and Woodham played TF2 Damien did the dishes in style and mucked around with Scott and I. I have adopted a new costume for cold evenings and may attach a super villain persona to it so that when my flatmates see me in it they will not think of Regan but instead of the Masked Merino Man. They will immediately run to the nearest exit whilst sprinkling chocolate at my feet.

Here are some other pictures I took earlier tonight!

Damien loves yoghurt almost as much as Scott!
Our new lounge configuration is working well. Sadly all of our seats are still damp because we didn't bring them in after  we put them outside for Scott's 21st and it ended up raining a lot. No matter what seat I pick I always seem to get damp pants but no one else does. Life is hard.

Woodham Scott and Damien bought a packet of cigarettes as props for our flatwarming  (we were all characters from Trailer Park Boys) but no one smokes so I created a cigarette wall. Behind the drink bottle lies Ollie's most treasured item, THE PRIZE

Last week Sophie gave us a bag full of woolen slipper socks her Grandmother had knitted! We love them very much and wear them erry day. Woodham calls them "slippi-socks" and the name has stuck. Thank you very very much Sophie and Sophie's Gran!

Here are our portraits on the dishes roster. You are privileged to see this.

Who am I?

Anonymous | 10:41 pm | Best Blogger Tips
Who am I, that is a good question. I am myself, there is not other better explanation. Everything else is just to short and will strip out what I really am. If I would try to explain myself with adjectives I could never give you a full understanding who I am. I would have to use an endless number of words and even if they would be finite I would never be quite sure that you understand a word like I do. Words have differnet meanings for everyone, most of them have a quite common meaning, but since everyone is grown up in his own way, there is no absolut meaning. The difference is maybe just a tiny bit, but if you have a whole sentence it grows more and more. Read a book, everyone understand it different. The best example is probably 'love', everyone has is own little meaning.

Ok, lets take a step back, as you can see my mind sometimes tries to answer such questions in a philosophical way. People know me under the name Michele Rocco (both my firstnames). I grew up in Germany, a place far far away from NZ, not just in a geographical way. Also in a culturic way, landscapes and everything else. Just recently I flew back to Germany after a 8 month long work and travel NZ trip. And I can tell you, I miss New Zealand.

So, why did I wrote this long stuff as introducion. I can't tell you, there isn't always a reason why you do something. There only can be a reason why you don't do someting. Maybe I wanted to show that I'm interested in such deep question, like how I am, do i really exists and so on. In a way, this brought me here on this blog to write. Why? Well to cut the long story short, I went on travel to find answers on question and somehow I met Regan out there.

I'm interested in art of every kind. But again, what is art? For me art is everything I enjoy, some people wouldn't call it art in the common sense. This post is maybe art, because I'm enjoying to write it. Sitting under a tree and and smiling can be art. I'm playing around with words and thoughts, just because I like it and maybe there is somebody out there who likes this too. Writing takes quite a bit of my 'art time', hopefully in some weeks I can release a book that I started to write in New Zealand. Unfortunately it is in German. As Regan would say: Than I have to wait till it is a bestseller and they translate it. Well, I don't believe that it becomes famous, because it is not that good. By the way, it can't never be a bestseller, because I'm not selling it. Art should be free and so my book is. Who wants to have a copy of it, has to pay the production price and can give me a donation.

Uhm, seems hard for me to give a short introduction ... lets go faster. I work as a web developer, so my medium for art is often a computer and the internet. (Have a look on my portfolio if you're interested: http://roccosportal.com/)

Like everyone I like music and I hope I'm getting into the self making process (Guitar!). I'm pretty much in politics, very very much, could be the close distance to Hamburg with its alternative scene. Reading, of course, how can you write without reading ;). Talking rubish as you can see.

You can find me on Diaspora (roccosportal@geraspora.de), that is something like Facebook but just better. And I'm trying to convince people to join me there. If anyone is interested why I avoid Facebook I can give you a looong explanation.

I'm a movie expert, just because I spend way to much time with it. I saw the list of movies on here. Let me add these real goooood and unkown movies:
- Ink
- Mr Nobody,
- Into the Wild (this on is pretty known)
- Cashback

This is me, looking like a hobit while I hiking three days around the Mount Doom on the north island.

To finish this ... essay ... As you can see, an introduction can be long, but you still don't know the person. That is why I don't like the word introduction at all, because it makes you or at least others believe you know the person and you can jugde him or her on how he or she explained herself. I don't know you, you don't know me, at least not now. So if you see something that you wouldn't like in my character, ask me why I do so, tell me. By the way I'm vegan. This is mostly a point where people start to think that I'm crazy or just another 'I'm living sooo healthy'-person. I definetely don't live healty but I'm not sure if I'm crazy ;).

Here a nice video to stay creative.

Cheers
Rocco

talking to nick fraser on the internet

regan | 2:34 am | Best Blogger Tips
A LIST OF FACTS:

- Nick Fraser is currently living in Australia doing Honours in biochemistry

- Nick went to high school with us and often had scabs on his knees from doing too much exercise!!

- In Year 10 Nick encouraged us to dare him to run down Colombo Street wearing a bra (this sadly never eventuated)

- Nick is a star of the feature films Hindenburg, Cambodia, and WWI: Nick's Banishment

- Nick is morally obliged to send us a postcard

- Nick once went to the movies with a group of us and consumed a lot of lemonade/popcorn. His body was so unaccustomed to the junk food that he threw up over Liam and Woodham's leg (I was luckily safe). Lauren then spread a great/tragic rumour throughout the school that Nick went crying to the toilets after the incident. This was soon adopted into popular memory and Nick has been fighting to clear his name ever since.

- Nick loves montages so here is a montage of nick himself!

here is nick circa 7/05/12 (approx 11.45pm Canberra time)

here is us watching nick and reacting to his various facial expressions

My painting is famous

Chris | 11:26 pm | Best Blogger Tips

This is a painting of mine featuring as a prop in a play at Uni today.
Unfortunately I could not attend this play so have no idea of the context of this photo. Perhaps someone who attended could fill us in?

My guess: A female doctor feebly attempts to console her male collegue. He has soiled his coat yet again. His uncontrollable bowel movements have pushed him into a slippery slope of depression. A painter enters the room with an easel and my painting. Suddenly the doctor is filled with awe as majestic cascades of colour penetrate his entire being. The marvellous painting has completely restored his faith in not only himself; but the whole of humanity.

I found this unfinished painting at the Eco-Shop on Blenheim Road (a sadly much more expensive incarnation of the brilliant Supershed: a haven of cheap tatty artwork and rusty HIV-laden kitchen utensils.

The painting lacked faces. I could see the potential in this painting and wondered why it was unfinished. Perhaps the artist died before they got a chance to finish it? Maybe they were a failed artist who lost motivation, gave up art altogether, and moved onto a new hobby: perhaps golf, or sipping soy caramel lattes?

Anyway, I saw this potential masterpiece while browsing the store with Matt and Regan for a sheet to cover Regan's flat's carpet so we didn't get paint on the carpet. We ended leaving with a large reddish curtain which does the job with both ample fashion and function. I hear it may well end up as a thick blanket for one of Regan's flatmates during the brisk winter months.

The man possesses rabbit ears.
The female has an unfortunate facial structure.

those of spag junx

regan | 2:50 pm | | Best Blogger Tips
I live in a flat called Spaghetti Junction. Four other humans live with me. I believe that the four humans that live with me are males because they grow facial hair thick enough to safely hide in during a game of hide and seek*

*sadly this does not include myself or damien

Here are some quick profiles of my flatmates:

DO NOT WAKE
Scott Allan (mouse): Scott recently shaved his beard and was unhappy when I said he looked like he used to look in Year 9. Scott is turning 21 this week!!! Scott is good at music and plays the guitar and piano. I am currently lending Scott one of my guitars and amps and he is learning the opening riff to "Plug in Baby". Scott has the biggest room in the house and sits behind a huge desk in the corner so that when you walk in it feels like you're walking into a scary job interview/meeting with your boss when in fact it is just Scott! Scott is currently studying maths and statistics and university. I just walked into Scott's room and he was:

- wearing a puffer jacket for warmth (this is a good idea, it is a cold day and I am wearing two jerseys myself)
- studying the concept of Sphericity
- listening to Videotape by Radiohead

Myself and my other flatmates like to play a game called Don't Wake The Scott. It involves waiting until Scott is asleep, then inching his door open, sneaking into his room and attempting to fit all of us on his bed before he wakes up. We have attempted this two times and have lost two times. Both times Scott has woken up and said something along the lines of "go away."

note: the cigarette is just a prop
Damien Taylor (moose): Damien lives in a room with an almost identical area to mine. His room is long and rectangular however whilst mine is roughly square. His room is at the side of the house which is right next to the washing line so he njoys the ability to open his window and hang/take in his towel on the line without even stepping outside. Damien comes from the town of Wairoa but has been so intrinsically inducted into our circle of friends that we pretend he went to Cashmere High with us. Damien and I have been learning the chords to "Friday I'm In Love" as we both like The Cure. Damien keeps a dream diary which is a really good idea (I have recently started one too) and sometimes talks like he is "gangsta". Damien is in his final year engineering and is doing mechatronics. Damien made Macaroni Cheese for dinner last night. Both attempts at Don't Wake The Damien have so far failed. Damien is a good guy; he will bring in your washing off the line if it starts raining and put it on your bed.

Damien has purple boxers. I know this because in our flat it is routine to stroll to the bathroom holding your towel and wearing only boxers. One night Damien was about to have a shower and came into the lounge to say something to me before he went in. I said:

and now i will explain how i knew that
For some reason the sight of Damien in his bright purple boxers made me remember that the day previously Damien had had a morning shower in the same boxers. Don't ask me how I remembered that but I did (I am part elephant). So I expressed concern that perhaps Damien had forgotten this and worn the boxers for two days in a row (my friends will know that I am all about the hygiene). It turned out that Damien actually has two pairs of the same boxers, and of course my caring and heartfelt concern over personal hygiene ended up in me seeming creepy on the Quote Wall.

IT'S WOODHAM
Alex Woodham (bear): We call Alex Woodham. Woodham's room is opposite mine in our flat. His room is shaped like an L and always smells like men's spray deodorant. It contains three toothbrushes (red, green and blue) arranged neatly in a line on top of a flannel. I have a strong feeling that at the strike of midnight Woodham's hands turn into mouths and demand constant dental care throughout the night. Woodham is studying psychology at university and is using my textbooks from last year. Woodham loves football! He has a big TV in his room and a couch as well. Woodham's room can be locked from the inside so sometimes when he goes to the toilet I sneak in and lock it and demand a password for entry. Woodham thinks he is better than me at Super Smash Bros Brawl but really this is not true. Woodham has a cool drawing style reminiscent of Dragon Ball Z. He is a "handyman" and has a tool kit and saw in his room. He made our two planter boxes out of spare wood we got from James and a pallet I found. He also constructed a set of shelves for our tiny bathroom and shelves for our porch which we put our herbs on. Woodham has a red car and always nabs the carport spot! In winter we will battle.

Brad with his classic paint party shirt
Brad Cope (hedgehog): Brad lives in a tiny dwelling known as "Brad's Room". He is doing economics at uni this term and finishing his micro-biology degree next semester. Brad has been in Dunedin for the last three years and is rumoured to have been banned from the establishment known as Monkey Bar for a short period of time. Brad was top in English for Cashmere High School in Year 12. He also caused colossal disruption during the Year 13 spelling bee by spelling each word impossibly slowly (Mr. Steetskamp, the head of Britten house at the time, reportedly said that he wanted to punch Brad afterwards). Brad owns at videogames and is sometimes nocturnal. His bed has drawers underneath it which make for an excellent storage solution. After months of encouragement Brad finally moved his huge armchair from his room to the lounge where it is now arguably the most sought after chair.

alex was ricky because he practically is ricky and has a difficult time pronuncing jalapeno scott was julian damien was j-roc and brad was bubbles it was gerat because no one knew who we were when they arrived but we had trailer park boys playing on the tv all night with out the sound on so when people asker who we were we were able to point to the tv and explain and they would be really impressed because we all looked exactly like them

here is a photo of me at my flat warming:

the funny thig was though in all the photos of me like the one above it looks like im just rediculously drunk and have lost all my cloths and people drew on me cause i was too drunk to releasie they were drewing on me and because my good friend ronan come dressed as me for the dress up party because i am so cool it looks like he has stoling all my clothes because i was too drunk....in actual fact i did not drink that nite lolol bt all da pepl on the facbook will think i did O NO

i wrote a poem about my great night at my flat warming here it is njoy:

i thought i might dress in bread
my flatmates decided randy instead
they took away my shirt
my pasty skin hurt
but at least in the end i got to bed

Zombies

Chris | 10:32 pm | | Best Blogger Tips
Some zombies like cones.

Others prefer cats.
